Balancing Home and Work Life
Tonight my protuberant part at Giant Ass Knoll is having a team airing after work. The team is going out for drinks and a baseball game. I won’t be au fait to make it. Hollywood has her last softball game this afternoon and a team junto/banquet at the floating pool tonight. I wouldn’t fail to hit Hollywood’s last game for anything, and acquisition together with the girls and their parents for some victuals and swimming sounds parallel a great duration to me.
So I declined my protuberant part’ call and am opting for the household thing. Similar I do almost every time one of these invitations is issued. I’m always the one who declines team outings. Or, if I can create one, I only stay for one quench one's thirst and then head residence. (I have a lengthy drive place of abode from downtown! And, I’m a lightweight. More than one quench one's thirst, and I should NOT be driving anywhere…)
My protuberant part is amazing and totally somewhat cold. She responded with ‘I comprehend’ but also ‘you could always tend hitherward late, the game doesn’t startle until 7’… She won’t be tip over if I don’t come. But I’ll in likelihood get a few comments from her and my co-workers. Something along the lines of “You should’ve been there, we had a blow! So-and-so got drunk and sang You Medium of vision Up My Life on the Karaoke instrument of force at the bar!” or “You dissed us again?! Dude! You missed out on a par-tay!!”
Sometimes that bothers me, makes me perceive left out and worried that I might seem standoffish. I try to rationalize that it’s not hurting me… I'm good with the team - I quip and feel part of the clump during work. I do my job well. I get of the highest order performance reviews. I’m an asset to Hercules Ass Bank. Totally frankly, it surprises me that I’m the only one who seems to be more focused on household than after work get togethers. I'm surprised that I'm often the only one who can't bring into being these after work socials.
But I do awe if it is hurting my race chances. Have I not been promoted in four years because I’m not joining...
